North Garden Strawbale house

The Strawbale house at Bundoran Farm is situated within an eco-friendly preservation development just south of Charlottesville. For developments built on the farm, the goal is to have the minimal impact to the farm. The house is beautifully situated overlooking fields and mountains within the 2,300-acre farm. Its design is simple and in a contemporary style that speaks to its local vernacular. The structure of the house is post and beam with straw bale walls. The stucco at the exterior is an elastomeric color tint that is baked into the stucco initially, with no painting required after. Other features include the interior walls, which are plaster with a handcrafted trowel finish, and other custom millwork and woodworking details throughout.
